IT'S SCHOLARSHIP TIME

The Sevierville Hospitality Association will be awarding four scholarship this year. Three $1200 scholarships will be awarded to seniors graduating from Sevier County High School. One $1500 scholarship will go to an enterprising employee in the hospitality industry.

GRADUATING SENIORS!

Three are for graduating seniors at Sevier County High School. To be eligible, students must fill out an application form, want to pursue studies in hospitality or a hospitality-related subject, OR have a parent working for a hospitality company and his/her employer is a member of the Sevierville Hospitality Association. Students must have a grade-point average of 2.7 or have an ACT score of 19 or above.

SHA EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIP

Deadline for 2019 Scholarship:
October 31, 2018

This scholarship is for any employee working in hospitality in Sevier County who would like to study hospitality at Walters State Community College or East TN State University.  

SHA members, PLEASE tell your employees and their families about these scholarship opportunities.  Anyone wanting more information, should please contact the SHA Board President.

EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER:

                  

Kathy Vasquez, the recipient of the 2018 SHA Employee Scholarship. This scholarship will enable Kathy to continue her studies in nursing at Walters State Community College. Kathy is currently a valued employee at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pigeon Forge - Sevierville. The scholarship is given to the school in the student’s name to be used for tuition, book, or other expenses related to their education.

TN HOSPITALITY & TOURISM EDUCATION FOUNDATION (TnHTEF) SCHOLARSHIP
TnTHEF Scholarships are presented to students who are recognized by the facility as being in good standing academically and contributing to the enhancement of the hospitality program. Scholarships are given to the schools in the students' names to be used for tuition, books, or other expenses related to their education.

        SHA COMMUNITY DONATIONS

SHA is very pleased to support the community work being done by these five charities. Each charity received a $500 donation at the end of 2017 from SHA:

Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic
Salvation Army Sevierville
Sevier County Food Ministries
Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries
and the United Way of Sevier County

 
Representatives received a donation check of $500 each for their respective organizations at SHA’s December 2017 meeting. Thank you all for the good you do in our community (left to right): Jim McGill for the United Way of Sevier County, Representative for the Salvation Army, Jim Davis for Sevier County Food Ministries, Ashley Justice for Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic, and Howard Kingsbury for Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries.

14th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament
AND A FUN TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!

The 14th Annual SHA Mini-Golf Tournament took place September 13 at Ripley’s Old MacDonald’s Farm Mini-Golf Course. 36 Teams had fun competing and we raised $9,500 for SHA’s Scholarship, community donations, and TPAC. THANK YOU ALL FOR A GREAT TURNOUT AND ALSO A SUPER $$$ TOTAL!

Thanks to everyone who helped make our fundraiser such a great success, including players, sponsors, donors, and volunteers!
It was a great turnout, and a lot of fun for a great cause!
